Position Summary:

Perform all functions of operating a gas turbine power generation facility.  Maintain safe facility conditions and detailed records on kilowatt production data, equipment operational hours and service schedules.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate the plant with a clear focus on safety. Clean up spills immediately.  Make sure all lighting systems are fully functional; no slip or trip hazards are consistently present; and no electrical or mechanical hazards go for long periods of time without attention.  Affirm that all plant visitors, mechanics and outside contractors are following safe work practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

As a Field Install Technician, you can expect to be on the road at outdoor construction sites (75% national travel), assisting the Superintendent in building Natural Gas Fueling Stations.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in setting up the job site and container.
  • Reading plans.

Opal Fuels offers the incoming Financial Analyst the opportunity to engage in all aspects of the rapidly growing and evolving sector of the renewable fuels, power generation, and decarbonization sectors. Due to the relatively lean size of the Finance and Treasury team, the Analyst will assume integral rolls within the deal teams and gain exposure to senior professionals.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and instrument components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Routine maintenance on various operating CNG compressor equipment, including, but not limited to, pumps, valves, meters, rotating equipment, and various other equipment.

Controls Engineer – Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining various control systems for new and existing projects.
  • Writing logic for new projects, diagnosing, and troubleshooting logic, loading programs remotely and via onsite technicians, updating controller firmware, documentation of logic and programs, and other SCADA related projects.

Construction Superintendent, CNG and RNG Energy Projects– Job Description

Position Summary:

A Construction Superintendent for Opal Fuels oversees the operations of a construction site, from planning to completion. The duties of a construction superintendent will vary day-to-day; however, they can expect to be responsible for daily scheduling, supervising all activities and tasks, and ensuring the safety and compliance of the site. These positions are for our rapidly expanding Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) business.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review project drawings for constructability and material take-off.
  • Material ordering on JIT basis for anticipated permits.
  • Creating Project Schedule and Budget.
  • Solicit and Review vendor and sub-contractor quotes for approval of purchase orders.
  • Customer contact, introduction, communication of overall project schedule and daily/weekly activities.

 Plant Operator Taunton, CA – Job Description

Position Summary:

Perform all functions of operating a gas turbine power generation facility.  Maintain safe facility conditions and detailed records on kilowatt production data, equipment operational hours and service schedules.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor gas turbines and compressors while making necessary adjustments to keep the plant operating at highest efficiency.
  • Take daily and weekly readings; maintain detailed records on kilowatt production data, equipment operational hours, and service schedules and equipment outages.
  • Check all operating equipment daily including fluid levels, pressure and temperature readings, and unusual noises in order to correct conditions before failure occurs; notify plant manager and maintenance specialist as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance including oil and filter changes, equipment lubrication, water chemical treatment and maintenance during annual overhauls
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness in and around the power plant. Keep oil from accumulating on the unit skids, floors, and soil around the plant.  Keep weeds and shrubs cleaned from the plant yard and perimeter fence. Keep equipment and floors looking as presentable as possible.
  • Keep all on-site parts and supplies stocked and well organized. Maintain plant inventory.
  • Respond to call outs in a timely manner. Identify and correct the cause of the call out. If the problem cannot be corrected or cannot be diagnosed, it is the responsibility of the operator to contact the plant manager.
  • Operate the plant with a clear focus on safety. Clean up spills immediately.  Make sure all lighting systems are fully functional; no slip or trip hazards are consistently present; and no electrical or mechanical hazards go for long periods of time without attention.  Affirm that all plant visitors, mechanics and outside contractors are following safe work practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Skilled in recordkeeping and logging.
  • General troubleshooting abilities.
  • Must be able to read and write well.
  • Must possess good mechanical skills.
  • Basic electrical knowledge is preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated and perform most tasks with little or no supervision.

Position requires physical effort such as that associated with driving a motorized vehicle, using hand tools, and typing on a computer. Position requires moderate lifting (10-50lbs), occasional need to walk on irregular surfaces, and occasional stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching. Also requires the use of hands and arms to operate/examine gas meter, flow meters, hand tools, power tools, bridge and jib cranes and test/diagnostic equipment.

Conditions of Employment:  Valid Class C driver’s license required.
